WHY GO?  For a wealth of info.  Money makes the world go round and since global economies rely on it, that’s a fact!

The what, why and wherefores of money are all recorded in the Bank of England Museum, tucked behind the great Bank itself in the heart of the City.

It’s a monument to capitalism and even more intriguing, a new exhibition invites us to consider the future of money.

Will we still be exchanging coins in the future? What is cryptocurrency?

Even if all we personally know about money is how to spend it, this is a fascinating glimpse into what lies ahead, maybe not in our day but definitely in the not too distant future.

New technologies have radically changed the way we bank as consumers have become more tech-savvy, purchasing on smartphones, banking online and engaging with contactless payments.

There are interactive displays to attract the whole family, namely an opportunity to feel the weight of a gold bar, see how banknotes are created and view for the first time, the new King Charles lll bank notes which will go into circulation on 5th June.

The current polymer banknotes will remain legal tender until they’re worn and torn; even the money men are considering sustainable issues!

IN THE KNOW  Want to get down to the real nitty gritty? Take a guided lunchtime tour with the curator of The Future of Money exhibition; no need to book or to take cash, they are absolutely free.  Check dates online.
