WHERE? Eames Fine Art Gallery, 58 Bermondsey Street, London SE1 3UD

WHEN? Now until 8th October. Free to view

WHY GO? To surrender to your senses.  Land, sea and the rugged coastlines of Ireland and Yorkshire have inspired landscape artist Norman Ackroyd’s atmospheric exhibition currently on show in Bermondsey, and the raw beauty of nature has a haunting quality.

Octogenarian Ackroyd, who also lives in Bermondsey, is primarily known for his aquatint work and has exhibited in galleries across the UK and America and also been the subject of several TV documentaries including the esteemed BBC 4 series, What Do Artists Do All Day? (2013).

Think bracing walks along coastal paths and scenic views over rolling waves as he has poetically conjured up images of favourite Irish haunts in Connemara and Co. Mayo and the much loved Yorkshire sea-side towns of Scarborough and Whitby.

Art lovers who might want to start a collection would be wise to consider an etching or watercolour (very moderately priced and signed) especially if the landscapes featured have been family holiday favourites.
