WHY GO?  For a whimsical take on textiles.  We just can’t get enough of everyone's favourite eclectic artist; Grayson Perry’s Full English series is currently on Channel 4 and if you’re inspired to get up close, check out his whacky way with textiles which are less ‘in your face’ than his famous signature pots.

This colourful exhibition celebrates his creativity through textiles and tapestries worked over the past eight years and includes paying homage or, ‘making sly references’ to British contemporary life, classical myths, and historic moments like Battle of Britain 2017 which symbolically chimes with his favourite Paul Nash painting called Battle of Britain 1941

Perry’s unique twist gives each piece deeper depth and it’s a glorious deep dive into his imaginative world.

Everything has a controversial name, like Large Expensive Abstract Painting featuring a map of London following the Thames, the title alone quirkily tells it like it is!

IN THE KNOW  Adding to his many accolades and awards, Turner prize winner Grayson Perry was knighted in this year’s 2023 New Year Honours list, but still modestly refers to himself as just a ‘tranny potter’.
