jackie shares her expert tips on how to shop

I love layering - try wearing a skirt on top of trousers, or a half sleeve knitted jumper over shirts.

Mix different textures in one colour.  A furry knit works perfectly with a poplin shirt worn with denim or corduroy trousers.

Wear colourful socks! The details really count.

Mix formal with informal.  Accessorise a smarter look with a back pack.

If you’re not confident with styling or need inspiration, take a look at campaign imagery of brands you follow. They work with professional stylists to create their looks, so trust them… they know what they’re doing.

STEPHEN JONES HATS

In partnership with Harvey Nichols

Royal Pavilion, Brighton, BN1 1EE

until 9th June

Brighton rocks… in more ways than one! The spectacular Royal Pavilion has seen many fashion fads and fancies over the years and the latest to take up residence is an exciting exhibition highlighting the distinctive, idiosyncratic work of masterful milliner, Stephen Jones OBE.

His claims to fashion fame are manifold, from berets to boaters, from frothy swathes of tulle to wild Mad Hatter fantasies; he has dressed the heads of Royalty and celebrity alike, collaborated with almost every leading fashion designer in the world and is THE most brilliant milliner and a charming man to boot.

His love affair with Brighton began as a student and this show-case, a labour of love, will delight and tickle the fantasies of visitors the world over with its global appeal.

The Pavilion is, of course, renowned for being a melting pot of Asian, Oriental and European Art influences. What better time to marvel at his creations and bathe in the glory of this magnificent museum, two treats for the price of one ticket!
