CINDERELLA

WHAT? CINDERELLA in-the-round ENGLISH NATIONAL BALLET

WHERE? Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gore, South Kensington, London, SW7 2AP

WHEN? 6th-16th June

WHY GO?  To enjoy the enduring fairy-tale charm of Cinderella, not just for Christmas but sparkling for summer too as an epic ballet in this jaw dropping production.  Award winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon has created a unique rich reimagining of this classic tale. In the spectacular round setting of The Albert Hall, with more than 130 dancers swirling and pirouetting, some clever artistic puppetry, lavish costumes and exquisite music by Prokofiev, what’s not to love as a special family treat?  There are four pairings of Cinders and the Prince throughout including the famed Alina Cojocaru and Isaac Hernandez.

IN THE KNOW We all know how hard the dancers rehearse, but spare a thought for the wardrobe department! The costumes will be lavish, with over 370 to be made, there’s lots going on behind the scenes, as 60 costume makers are tasked with bringing the production to life.  From flowery frock coats to THE ballroom dress, fancy masks to woodland characters, it’s intriguing to view the ENB blog about how they create the costumes, on-line now.

The ENB Cinderella production travels to Manchester and Southampton in October
