A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM

WHAT? A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM

WHERE? Bridge Theatre, 3 Potters Fields Park, London, SE1 2SG

WHEN? 3rd June - 31st August

WHY GO? To be immersed in the round while experiencing a bonkers, fantasy version of this Shakespeare summer classic. For a start, Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie towers as Titania (and Hippolyta ) and is dressed in Giles Deacon with Hammed Animashaun as a comedic Bottom in a yellow boiler suit.  Expect action, lots of it… high wire antics and fairies a-plenty, plus disarming manoeuvres all over the stage choreographed by the talented Arlene Phillips. And the sound track is by Beyonce. This Nicholas Hytner production follows his famous immersive Julius Caesar success last year.

IN THE KNOW? Beware, if you don’t want to be part of the action, avoid clicking ‘pit’ when you book or you will literally be in this fairytale fantasy. There are £15 tickets for Young Bridge members brave enough to rub shoulders with the cast.  And if you don’t manage to catch this quirky production it will be broadcast live on 17th October.
