WHY GO

It’s a personal portrayal of how much this great artist loved his family, especially his daughters Mary and Margaret, whom he painted numerous times from infancy to womanhood hoping they would follow in his footsteps, which, sadly they never did!

IN THE KNOW

Gainsborough kept things ‘in the family’; his wife was his agent, his nephew also called Gainsborough Dupont, was his apprentice and the family dogs “Tristram and Fox “ were immortalised in one of his most famous paintings.
