BILL VIOLA / MICHELANGELO

WHAT? Life, Death, Rebirth

WHERE? Royal Academy of Arts, Main Galleries, Piccadilly, W1J OBD

WHEN? 26th January -31st March 2019

WHY GO? It’s the first RA exhibition focused primarily on video art.  Exploring the Renaissance genius of Michelangelo with the contemporary tech wizardry of Bill Viola, five centuries apart, there’s a visual connection between the two on all aspects of mortality. It sounds profound but is thought provoking and the video art is mind blowing and conceptual.

IN THE KNOW  Bill Viola is one of the first artists to have conceived video on an architectural scale. His installations use light, sound and time to make us question everything.
